Pola Dwurnik - 'Young Cracow Painters'
27.11.08 - 31.01.09, opening day: 27th November, 6 p.m.
Potocka Gallery, 10 Sikorskiego Square, Cracow
Curator: Maria Anna Potocka
Coordinator: Anna Sulich

The works of Pola Dwurnik Young Cracow Painters will be exhibited at the Potocka Gallery (Galeria Potocka) from the 27th November 2008 till 31st January 2009. The Warsaw artist, invited by the Cracow gallery focuses on the artistic circle of this city by portraying seven young painters, who have been recently successful on the international contemporary art scene.

The images created by Pola Dwurnik show the following artists: Rafa? Bujnowski, Tomek Kowalski, Pawe? Ksi??ek, Marcin Maciejowski, Bartek Materka, Wilhelm Sasnal and Julian Jakub Zió?kowski Each of them was portrayed against a background of one of their paintings. Dwurnik chose a formula of a postage stamp and she drew nominal values and appropriate signatures, like if she was a stamp designer. The Young Cracow Painters series will be shown both
in a form of original drawings and as a unique publication - a catalogue containing a set of miniaturized portraits, as of the Polish Post stamps series - a collector’s item.

The second part of the exhibition will be shown in the interior of a miniature gallery of contemporary art – Apolonia Art Gallery. On its walls the artist will present collages
(Cracow’s panoramic view among them) composed of tiny elements cut out from the widely available Polish postage stamps.
