in the colours, lights and shades of Maria Neefjes’ marvellous anthology of paintings. Neefjes: “Although I paint many different themes and subjects, memories and desires, the heartbeat of all my work is the search for beauty. Glimpses of a paradise never to be reached, hovering around me while I paint. This longing for the light, urges me on towards glowing colors and bold compositions”

Contours of luminous color and rhythmic diagonals fracture and reorganize the motif. The objects and layers have to subordinate to the painting. Color and light overrule and consequently  
the images become three-dimemsional with a dualistic cubistic touch.

Neefjes takes us around the world in search of beauty, and it is a pleasure to welcome you  
to her first exhibition in Copenhagen.
